American Idol Season 10: Performance show recap

The Top 11 had to sing the songs of Motown and most of the performances and song choices are great. I had to say this is one of the greatest season of American Idol.
Here is my personal thoughts about tonight’s performance.

Casey Abrams –  “I Heard it Through The Grapevine.” He needs to control his emotions while singing. When he gets too excited, the song is turning out to be an angry song. This performance is way better than last week’s performance.  Casey is really an entertainer.

Thia Megia –  “Heat Wave.” She finally chose an upbeat song. Thia needs to pick it up to stay in the competition. She finally came out on her comfort zone. Good performance Thia!

Jacob Lusk – “You’re All I Need To Get By.” Great performace and great song choice for Jacob. He can now control his runs and this performance is way better than last week.

Lauren Alaina -  “You Keep Me Hanging On.” One of the great performance of the night. Good song choice and she’s proving that she really deserves to stay in the competition.

Stefano Langone – “Hello.” He feels what he sings. Another great performance by Stefano. Flawless performance!

Haley Reinhart – “You Really Got a Hold On Me.” She picked the right song. She has an amazing vocals but needs to connect with the audience to get votes. I hope she stays!
McCreery – “For Once In My Life.” Bad song choice for him. People like him and they will vote for him. Next!

Pia Toscano – “All In Love Is Fair.” Again she chose a ballad song. Im getting bored with her song choices. I want to see her on her feet and enjoy the moment. Her performance was still flawless. She has mad vocals I can say.

Paul McDonald – “Tracks Of My Tears.” I was happy to see Paul performing with his guitar. For me this is the best performance of the night.

Naima Adedapo – “Dancing In the Streets.” She again chose an upbeat song. There are still some pitch issues but he pulled it up. Great performance!

James Durbin -  “Living For The City.” He’s one of the consistent contestant in the show and he can actually sing very high notes and still sound good with his lower register. Great performance!

Top 3: James Durbin, Jacob Lusk, Casey Abrams
Bottom 3: Haley Reinhart, Naima Adedapo, Thia Megia
Probably going home: Haley Reinhart

American Idol Season 10: Top 12 results show

America says goodbye to Karen Rodriguez

The top 12 opened the show singing “Born to Be Wild” and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” The show is all about singing but why are they not singing the song live? Then followed by the Ford commercial.

Finally, it’s time to announce the bottom 3. Ryan called Jacob Lusk, Lauren Alaina and Casey Abrams to center stage. They are all safe.

Then Ryan calls up Haley Reinhart and Paul McDonald. Paul is safe and Haley is in the bottom 3 for the second week in a row.

Lee DeWyze. Did not excite me.

The show returns and Ryan calls Scotty McCreery, Pia Toscano and James Durbin who are all safe. Then calls Stefano Langone and Naima Adedapo. Stefano was sent to safety and Naima is in the bottom 3. Ryan calls Thia Megia and Karen Rodriguez. Thia is safe, Karen is in the bottom 3.

Haley and Naima is safe. Karen is going home.

Karen Rodriguez sings for a chance to get the save of the judges. She sang “Hero” by Mariah Carey. She did not get the judges’ save.

It’s your turn to share your thoughts about tonight’s results show. Did America sent the right person home?

American Idol Season 10: Top 12 performance show recap

The Top 12 idol hopefuls had to sing hit songs from the year they were born.  There are some bad choice of songs but there are some who stood out.

Here is my personal thoughts about tonight’s performance.

Naima Adedapo – “What’s Love Got To Do With It” (1984). I don’t know if the nerves are making her out of tune or the excitement. She has her own flavor but if she will be consistently sing the songs flat, she will be in big trouble.

Paul McDonald – “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues” (1984). I really like his distinct style. His moves and his recording voice. I was amazed that it was an Elton John songs because he delivered the song in his own way considering he’s sick during this performance. Way to go Paul!

Thia Megia – “Colors of The Wind” (1995). She sang it perfectly but my concern is she is singing ballad songs each and every week. She reminds me of Ramiele Malubay who sang beautifully but bored me at the end. Hopefully next week she will use the whole stage and enjoy the moment.

James Durbin – “I’ll Be There For You” (1989). He’s a really great singer but I did not like the arrangement of the song. He’s a great performer. I thought I was watching his concert!

Stefano Langone – “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” (1989). He delivered the song very well. He proved that he really deserves the wildcard pick. One of the best performance of the night. He got some mad vocals!

Pia Toscano – “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” (1988). I did not like the arrangement of the song but Pia still sang the song very well. She nailed the high notes of the song. She’s the most consistent contestant of the show.

Scotty Mccreery – “Can I Trust You With My Heart” (1993). He really has great country singer voice. I’m sure he made his parents proud with his performance. I Hope he will not sing another country music next week.

Karen Rodriguez – “Love Will Lead You Back” (1989). I did not like the song choice and the hairstyle. Nothing special with the song and the arrangement. Sorry.

Casey Abrams – “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (1991). I like his fearlessness. He took risk. This may not be his greatest performance or may this is his weakest but who cares? He just enjoyed being on stage and sing hi s heart out. With this performance, he reminds me of Jack Black. He’s still my favorite!

Lauren Alaina – “I’m The Only One” (1994). She recovered from her performance last week. She had colds but she still controlled her voice and sounded good during the performance.

Jacob Lusk – “Alone” (1987). He really has a very powerful voice. He can sing anything!

My Top 3: Stefano Langone, Lauren Alaina, Scotty Mcreery

My Bottom Performer: Karen Rodriguez and Naima Adedapo

American Idol Season 10: Top 13 results show

America says goodbye to Ashton Jones.

Casey Abrams wasn’t able to be there during the results show because he was rushed to the hospital  because of stress-induced bleeding ulcer. The Top 13 did a Michael Jackson medley. Adam Lambert performed an impressive version of his song “Aftermath.”

It turns out that Lauren Alaina, Ashton Jones and Haley Reinhart to be the bottom 3. Ryan sends Lauren to safety and announced that Ashton Jones will be going home.
It’s time to share your thoughts about tonight’s show.

American Idol Season 10: Top 13 performance show recap

The "Lucky 13" of American Idol Season 10 took the stage and performed songs from their own personal idols. There were some good and bad moments and some poor song choices, and there are some great moments.

Here is my personal thoughts on tonight's performance.

Lauren Alaina - "Any Man of Mine.” She’s a good singer but as of now she’s forgettable. She needs to pick it up. She needs to peak at the right time.

Casey Abrams – “With a Little Help From My Friends.” – it also reminds of the “Wonder Years” because this was its theme song. He’s very confident and he seems to enjoy the moment while he’s in the spotlight. I can say that I’m a fan of Casey!

Ashton Jones – “When You Tell Me That You Love Me.” Her performance was boring and so old fashion. With this performance I can say that the slot from the Wildcard should be given to Kendra or Rozen.

Paul McDonald – “Come Pick Me Up.” He’s also one of my favorites, I’m not familiar with his song choice but I can say that he’s ear candy. He has a recording voice that can sold millions of records. He has a very distinct voice and unique style.

Pia Toscano – “All By Myself.” She has a perfect tone and pitch. She’s a package, she’s got the looks and the talent. She’s great with ballad songs but she needs to show America her versatility to win the title.

James Durbin – “Maybe I’m Amazed.” For me this is the best performance of the night. He showed his versatility from soft start to powerful range. He proved that he can also show his softer side and not scream at a song all the time.

Haley Reinhart – “Blue.” I’m confused because I’m not sure what kind of singer she wants to be. But she can also sing a country song very well, she can yodel!

Jacob Lusk – “I Believe I Can Fly.” He’s a great singer but I did not like his performance. For me he oversang the song but I think America will vote for him. He has the charisma!

Thia Megia – “Smile.” Her performance was dull and I did not like the arrangement of the song. Her nerves was overpowering her. She has a very nice voice but if she cannot control her nerves, she will be going home in a week or two. I still like her.

Stefano Langone – “Lately.” He has a great tone. He did a great job with the dance mix version of the song. He’s confident and having a lot of fun on stage.

Karen Rodriguez – “I Could Fall in Love.” This is the weakest performance of the night for me. She was out of tune and you can feel her nerves while singing. She picked a song that she’s singing all her life and still messed up. She needs to pick it up if she’s still here next week.

Scotty Mccreery – “The River.” He has a very good low voice and sings country songs. But for me that’s it. His performance will be more boring if he sings like that every week. He has the charisma to stay longer in the competition.

Naima Adedapo – “Umbrella.” This is a performance level. She gave her all in this performance. It felt like I was watching her concert! She’s singing, dancing and enjoying her moment. She’s very unique and talented.

My top 3 – James Durbin, Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams
My bottom 3 – Ashton Jones, Karen Rodriguez, Lauren Alaina
